Blood Donor Confidentiality

• Miller-Keystone Blood Center does not sell or provide donor information to anyone unless authorized in writing by the donor to do so.
• All employees of the Blood Center sign a confidentiality statement regarding the maintenance of donor confidentiality. Employees who violate this policy are subject to penalty and/or termination, as appropriate.
• Paper records are maintained under limited access conditions, and our computer system is closed, available only through the password access of designated individuals.
• All Blood Center confidentiality policies and practices are written into our operating procedures and reviewed with employees during their training.
• All Blood Center policies and practices meet with the confidentiality requirements of the Healthcare Industry Privacy and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
