Where Are We Today?

Double The Impact

You may already know the benefits of donating blood through Miller-Keystone Blood Center - providing a unit of whole blood that contains red blood cells, platelets and plasma. We'd also like to introduce you to our newest type of blood collection technology - Automated Red Cell Collections - where you provide two units of life-saving red blood cells during one donation process!

Benefits of Automated Red Cell Collections
You help more patients in need with this type of procedures because your donation will result in two red cell transfusions. The most powerful benefit is that your donation is a more concentrated and consistent product for patients. Depending on the number of red cells available locally, you may be the only support for a patient needed a red cell transfusion.

Most Needed Blood Type
While blood donations of all types are always needed, the two most requested blood types for automated collections are O and A.

You Feel Better!
An immediate benefit is that you should find the donation experience more comfortable. Your plasma, which contains all your vitamins, minerals and nutrients, is returned to you during the donation process, along with a small amount of saline solution. You leave the Blood Center donation site more hydrated than you would normally be from a whole blood donation.

What Are The Benefits?

Donation Difference Benefit
Single donation o fred cells Help 1-2 patients
Small neeedle Increased comfort
Fluid replacement Feel better after donation
About 20 minutes longer Schedule 3 times per year

It's Safe!
Giving this way is similar to whole blood donation in that your blood is collected in a single-use disposable blood bag. Your blood never comes in contact with another person's blood. Although a machine is used to separate the components, your blood never touches the machine.
